Mardi Gras always seemed a bit overly indulgent for me. I mean, I get that indulgence is the whole point, the last hurrah before the austerity of Lent, but being packed in with crowds of people in the street drinking daiquiris and shouting over blaring music, all those beads and potential for public nudity… Just the thought of it gives me a headache.
