I know it’s almost Thanksgiving, which is pretty much my favorite holiday ever. But there’s another day coming up that you probably had no idea existed. The internet tells me that Tuesday is National Cake Day. So maybe but nobody cares, but cake! I said cake. So maybe it’s not pie, but cake. How many times do I have to say it?
Pumpkin Spice Gooey Butter Cake is the best of both worlds. It’s got a thick, dense, spice cake layer, topped off with a gooey cheesecake-esque pumpkin layer. It’s like a cake and a pie all in one. And it would be awesome for Thanksgiving.
Secret Ingredient Chocolate Cake is a bit of chocolate heaven. It’s moist and sweet, and with a bit of cinnamon mixed in, there’s a hint of intrigue. It’s perfect for a holiday or any day. Even right now.
Passion Fruit Victoria Sponge Cake is a light and lovely blend of English tradition and tropical flavor. The cake is buttery, and the curd is sweet and tart. And with no frosting, it’s simple to put together. If you have time to decorate a cake at this time of year, you deserve a medal.
Gluten Free Lemon Polenta Cake is simple, sophisticated, and perfect for your guests with gluten issues. This cake is awesome whether you’re down with wheat or not. It’s soaked in a lemon syrup which is basically like heaven.
Retro Yellow Cake with Fudge Frosting is completely awesome in any decade. There’s a reason this is a classic. This cake blows my mind a little bit.
I made those cakes for you, but there are just too many cakes out there and not enough time. Here are a few more cakes on my “to bake” list.
Ultimate S’more Anniversary Cake is ridiculous!
This Sprinkles Flower Cake from my friend Kim is gorgeous!
Chocolate Peppermint Stick Marshmallow Fantasy Cake is a fluffy Christmas dream.
Chocolate Stout Cake with Whipped Vanilla Bean Frosting is cake with beer, which is rad.
Mint Chocolate Chip Cake might be the funnest thing I’ve ever seen.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cake is where I’d like to live right now.
Lemon Drop Cake is adorable.
Cake is always the right answer. Bring a cake, and it’s an instant party. Cake. Do it!
