I could not possibly care less about the Superbowl. In fact, my husband and I are planning on spending the day hiking to escape our screaming neighbors. I can’t tell you how happy I am that football season is about to be over. One thing you hand egg fans do get right, though, is food. Here are a dozen things I would love to be eating on Sunday, though I’d rather stuff my face while watching an indie movie. Go team nerd!
You can never go wrong with serving up something gooey and cheesy, and garlic mac and cheese is so simple, you can make it while wearing one of those giant foam fingers. Okay, maybe don’t actually try that.
If you need to throw something together during a time out, try super fast faux pizza. Few ingredients, high reward.
If you’re in my time zone, the Superbowl is on tv sorta stupid early. Even if you’re not, you should still eat sky high breakfast pizza. It’s amazeballs.
In case you need some pork products to go with your pig skin, try Spam mac and cheese. Salty, crispy bits of Spam make this extra awesome.
You cannot get a bunch of dudes together without serving bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers. There are never any leftovers.
Only a dummy would throw a party and not have Swiss and bacon dip. I’m not joking. Don’t skip it.
In case throwing everything in a big spot of spicy love is more your style, try spicy chicken chili. Make a huge pot and feed the whole neighborhood.
Keep that chili action going, switch it over to beef, and throw in a package of premade gnocchi to feed a crowd. Chili with gnocchi will make everyone high five you for days.
What’s more football food than Li’l Smokies? Try these cranberry soy sausages, a step up from barbecue sauce, even more awesome!
I say, what’s the point of life if there’s nothing sweet. Make things people can shove in their faces while they’re moving the chains. Try chocofied peanut butter cookies, caramel-stuffed apple cider cookies, or mini Oreo cheesecakes. They’re better than a touchdown.
I hope you have an awesome Superbowl party. I’ll be in the jungle. Save me a cookie!
