This month, we needed to grab a burger close to home. That’s why our search for Oahu’s best burger led us to Good to Grill, located in the same parking lot as the Safeway that is our second home. Good to Grill is owned by the same people who used to own Burgers on the Edge, which was awesome. I’ve been missing it ever since it closed. I figured the burgers at Good to Grill couldn’t possibly be bad.
I had the Kiawe Grilled Burger with cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. I like that you get to choose your side instead of automatically getting fries. It was pretty good. Not as good as Burgers on the Edge. Burgers aren’t their specialty, and there was certainly nothing wrong with it, but it wasn’t spectacular. I wouldn’t order the garlic mashed potatoes again. They were overmixed and gluey. I prefer my mashed potatoes much thicker and chunkier. I don’t recommend them.
Geoff had the turkey burger and lattice fries. He was highly satisfied with his burger and said it was surprisingly juicy. His fries were crisp and tasty, and our chicken really loved the leftovers.
All in all, I’d say Good to Grill is a B-. It was a good enough burger, but not particularly memorable. I did like the fact that our bill for both of us was $23. To be fair, Good to Grill doesn’t specialize in burgers. I’d say give some of the other stuff a try. It’s a locally owned business, so I want it to succeed. Give it a try. Let me know what you think.
