Saturn is the planet of boundaries and long term thinking. Use these herbs for Saturn when you need to create structure in your life.
In the pantheon of planets, Saturn is often seen as a bit of a buzzkill. It's not joyful or expansive like Jupiter or the moon, it's not bold and bright like Mars and the sun, and it's certainly not as fun as Mercury and Venus.
Saturn is the stern father of the heavens. It's a planet of boundaries and restrictions. It asks us to think about the future, to make the long term plan and to delay gratification like it's an extreme sport. Though we (especially if you're a Sagittarius) may not be excited about it, sometimes Saturn has the exact energy we need.
But how to we get the energy of this enormous, ring-bound planet into our spells? With corresponding herbs, of course.
Top 13 herbs for Saturn
Herbs and botanicals ruled by Saturn tend to have a dark and mysterious quality. As a kitchen witch who mainly works with culinary herbs, I found a lot of Saturn's plants to be a bit obscure. And many of them are toxic. If you choose to work with poison plants, please take extra care.
Here are my top 13 herbs for Saturn energy that I think will be relatively easy to get your hands on to add to your spells.
- belladonna - One of the witchiest herbs out there, belladonna was used to induce trance and visions and to aid in divination. It's associated with death and the underworld. This is probably because it's deadly poisonous. You could work with images of the plant if you don't want to take a chance on handling the actual herb.
- black pepper - This is in just about everyone's house. Add it to spells for protection, inner strength, banishing, and grounding.
- blueberry - Use these dark berries in spells for protection and wisdom. They can also be used for hexing.
