The sun is the source of all life and crucial to our existence. Here are 13 herbs for sun energy to help you manifest warmth, joy, and growth in all your witchcraft spells.

13 Herbs for Sun Energy (with the sun rising behind a plant)

The sun is the source of energy for all life on earth. When we eat plants, we are consuming the sun's energy stored within them. We all know the joy of feeling the warm sun on your skin after a long winter. Our ancestors depended on the light of the sun to guide their lives. It's absolutely crucial to our existence.

In witchcraft, the sun carries fire energy, but unlike aggressive Mars, the sun's energy is more about warmth and light and joy. Its fiery motivation comes from a place of happiness andplayfulness. And the herbs and botanicals tied to the sun carry that same joyful energy.

Top 13 Herbs for the Sun

Even though we can easily infuse our spells with sunlight, we may want a more tangible representation of the sun's energy in our spells. Here are my 13 favorite herbs to bring sun vibes into your spellwork.

    • Bay leaf - One of the most common witchcraft herbs, this leaf brings the energy of victory and manifestation.
    • Carnation - These colorful flowers bring the energy of celebration, luck, and protection.
    • Cedar - This fragrant wood can help you call in long life, protection from corruption, and the continuation of the soul.
    • Chamomile - These cheery flowers bring peace and prosperity as well as protection, luck, and healing.
    • Cinnamon - A metaphysical powerhouse, this spice helps you call in prosperity, speeds up spells, and deepens your spiritual connection.
    • Clove - These spiky buds can be used in spells for lust, prosperity, and protection.
    • Corn - This staple grain represents fertility and abundance.
    • Frankincense - Burn this resin for purification or to consecrate your magical tools.
    • Olive - Use the oil to anoint yourself and your tools with sun energy, and use other parts of the tree for new beginnings or to drive out negative energy.
    • Rice - A symbol of fertility and abundance, rice can also be used in protection spells.
    • Rosemary - The master herb in witchcraft, it can be used to substitute for any herb, but it can also call in wisdom, protection, and love.
    • Saffron - This precious spice can be added to spells for love, sex, strength, and wealth.
    • Sunflower - Call in happiness, fertility, strength and courage with this proud flower.
