The moon is central to many witchcraft practices, so knowing the herbs that bring her energy into our lives is super helpful. I've got 13 herbs for the moon to help you enhance the lunar vibes in all your spells.
The moon is central to my personal witchcraft practice. Following her phases and connecting with her intuitive energy is how I mark time and stay in flow. I don't work with specific deities in my practice, but I do honor the moon and the goddess energy that she holds.
But of course, you can't put the moon in a spell jar. So it's good to know some correspondences to help you draw down the moon's energy into your specific workings. There are plenty of crystals, colors, and other correspondences, but today, I'm sharing herbs for the moon to help you connect to her gorgeous presence through plants.
Top 13 herbs for the Moon
Moon herbs tend to also be quite watery, which is no surprise since this is the "planet" of emotions, feminine energy, and intuitive insights. There are also some very feminine plants here. Often but not always, moon plants are white. These are the top 13 herbs that I think you might be able to find easily and incorporate into your spells and rituals without too much effort.
- Aloe Vera - Fille with water and soothing to the skin, this spiky plant can also help you create healing, love, and home protection.
- Clary Sage - A favorite with aromatherapists, this herb opens the third eye and helps bring visions.
- Evening Primrose - Often found in an herbalist's apothecary, you can use it to call in beauty, friendship, and success.

- Mugwort - A classic for astral projection, this herb can also be used for protection, especially for travel.
- Opium Poppy - This is on the list not because I want you to use opium, but because this is where we get poppy seeds from, and they're super easy to find, and therefore use in spells. It's great for sleep spells and calling up visions.
- Pumpkin - You can use the whole gourd or the seeds to call in fertility, prosperity, and protection.
- Rice - A ubiquitous ingredient, use rice for protection, abundance, and grounding.
- Sandalwood - Found in many forms in metaphysical shops, this fragrant wood can be used to create peace for meditation, scrying, and divination.
- White Rose - The white rose represents purity and innocence and can be used to connect to the Maiden.
