Awesome in August

Summer is ending. We’re back to school and back to work in a new and strange world. What was awesome in August? Let’s get into it.

Awesome in August - field with purple flowers and brick building

Wow, I was so incredibly boring this past month. I went back to work at my school first for a few days a week, then full-time for the past three weeks, and sadly, I’ve been wasting a lot of my time worrying about it. You can read more about my plans to keep work from stealing my joy on this post, Be Awesome: Find Joy.

We also finally got back to Geoff’s favorite restaurant, Buck’s Bar. It was awesome. But it also sparked a debate about whether they have the best buffalo chicken sandwich or if that title goes to The DogHouse. I’m partial to the latter. Glasgow reader, have you tried either of these? Which is your favorite?

I haven’t finished any new books (I’m a slow reader), or watched anything interesting on TV that I can recall. Geoff got a new VR headset, and I’ve been spending all my evenings working on my blog, so I honestly can’t think of anything cool to pass on. They say to have a good blog, you need to have a good life. I guess that explains why my blog is not very popular. C’est la vie.

Awesome August Recipes

Much of the internet’s food is focused on escaping the sweltering August heat. We don’t have that problem here in Scotland, but I love summer food just the same.

This Chipotle Tomato Corn Chowder is perfect for these gray and chilly Scottish nights.

Just line up all the Chicken and Waffle Sliders right in front of me. Give me all the maple butter and hot sauce.

My mom craved It’s-It ice cream sandwiches throughout her whole pregnancy with me. Back then, they were called Big Wheels. Or maybe that’s a regional thing. I always loved them as well, but there’s not an equivalent in the UK. I’m so excited about these Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Strawberry Soju Slushie | How to be Awesome on $20 a Day

Your favorite recipes this month were Strawberry Soju Slushies, Classic Crunchy Peanut Butter Cookies, and Buffalo Chicken Pinwheels. We’re finishing off the summer in style. This is why I love you.

September is gonna be big, kids. I can feel it. Let’s go out and make things awesome. Stay safe.
