So, what’s awesome in December this year? Perhaps learning to appreciate your family in a new way. Perhaps learning to make the most of a tough situation. Perhaps getting to eat all the chocolate yourself. No matter what the world serves up, we’ll always find what’s awesome.
Well, December has been a bit challening. Lots of people’s plans changed at the last minute here in the UK, and not for the better. But I got to take time off work and even snuck in a birthday lunch at Coia’s where I ate my weight in Penne Arrabiata, so it’s not all bad news.
This was also the month that I finally finished off Schitt’s Creek. I just wasn’t ready to let it go, so we put off watching the finale for ages. I choked back tears the entire episode. If for some reason you haven’t gotten around to watching this series yet, don’t wait. You need this in your life.
Our kitchen also got completely gutted and remodelled this month. For over a week, I couldn’t cook, and I felt completely lost. Though we’re still finishing up some details, I’m so happy with the new kitchen we’ve designed. There’s tons of storage and so much counter space, you could probably roll out a sleeping bag and take a nap. Also, I can put an entire pan in the sink. You have no idea how happy this makes me. Awesome Internet Food
Food bloggers are at the height of their powers in December, offering up the absolute best. I’m definitely craving this Spicy Pesto Alla Vodka from Half Baked Harvest. It seems like the best of all worlds.
My favorite side dish in the world might just be mashed potatoes. This Brown Butter Rosemary version from Salt & Baker sounds absolutely heavenly.
Cinnamon Orange Rolls from How Sweet Eats seem like the exact right thing for breakfast, and then again for dessert. That’s just the kind of world we’re living in right now.
I’ve stopped trying to predict what life will look like from one week to the next. With any luck, January will bring cautious hope, and 2021 will be filled with new and surprising opportunities. We’ll just keep it awesome and play it by ear. As long as we’ve got each other, that’s enough.
