October is always a time of change, and this year, when so much has felt stagnant, it was a joy to watch the Earth continue to shift and transition. Let’s dig in and see what was awesome in October.
Autumn has been gloriously undeniable this month, and there’s a buzz of change in the air. I don’t know exactly what it is, but something in me feels different. I’ve been waking up with a smile on my face lately, and I’m tremendously grateful.
Glasgow is under tightened Covid restrictions, so pubs and most restaurants are closed. We did discover that we can get Five Guys delivered, which is probably pretty dangerous. As soon as they’re allowed to reopen, I’m making a reservation for brunch at TriBeCa. Give me all the waffles.
I’m working all the time at the moment, so I barely have time for TV. I did watch Bell Book and Candle with Kim Novak, Jimmy Stewart, and my favorite, Jack Lemon. If you’re looking for a classic film with a Halloweeny feel that’s not scary, go here. It’s a funny little romance perfect for date night.
Awesome Internet Food
October is a stellar month for internet food. I don’t really watch sports, but I like the food involved in a sport-watching party. Can we start doing this for figure skating and slam poetry? Anyway, these Garlic Knot Meatball Sliders sound incredible, and I want them.
Pumpkin is in everything right now, and I’m not mad at it. These Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins look especially enticing.
Cookie Dough Stuffed Brownies are all I want right now. I can’t get a therapist because they’ll tell me to stop using chocolate to cope, and I’m not ready.
November will be my last month with my current kitchen. I’m hoping to hold onto this feeling of expansion as we barrel through these socially distanced holidays. Let’s make it awesome, kids.
