It’s that time of year when your friends and family come to stay, and they don’t leave. Overnight guests are rad because you can go to bed early, and they’ll still be there to hang out when you wake up. You can go ahead and start drinking as soon as you wake up, too. I mean, if they’re those kind of friends and family. Mine usually are.

Overnight guests also mean awesome breakfasts. Awesome breakfasts mean bacon. And if you want to make bacon extra awesome, you smash some brown sugar and cayenne pepper into it.

Throw it in the oven until it’s crispy and bubbly. If you have the patience to let it cool properly, the brown sugar will harden up a bit. If you can’t keep your hands off it, it will be sticky, sweet, and spicy. You’re welcome.

  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 1/4 brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  1. Preheat oven to 325. Line a baking sheet with foil and then top it with a metal rack.
  2. On a plate or baking dish or anything wide and flat, combine the brown sugar and cayenne and shake it out into a thin layer across the plate.
  3. Press both sides of each slice of bacon into the brown sugar mixture, then lay your bacon out on the rack. If you have any left over sugar, you can sprinkle it on top of the bacon before putting it in the oven.
  4. Cook your bacon in the oven for probably at least 25 minutes. It could take up to 40 depending on how crispy you like your bacon.
  5. Remove bacon from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. This is awesome cold as well.

  • It’s obviously totally easy to to multiply this recipe. You wouldn’t necessarily need twice as much sugar and spice for twice as much bacon. Measurements don’t even matter that much. Just eyeball it and have fun.
