Chamomile Green Tea will have you feeling totally chill and ready to bring in prosperity. Whether you drink it hot or iced, it's a beautiful way to create a moment of magic.
There's something inherently magical about drinking hot beverages. It's not something that you just pour out of a jug or turn on the tap and guzzle down. Whether it's tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or something else, there's always a bit of a ritual when it comes to making hot drinks, whether you're fully aware of it or not.
Of course, there are deeply meaningful rituals of tea preparation in places like China and Japan, and herbal infusions have been used for healing and magical purposes for centuries. But even the daily routine of preparing tea or coffee can become a bit of a ritual without you even realizing it. For example, when my husband makes us tea in the morning, he always does it the exact same way. This includes tapping out the rhythm of "shave and a haircut" with the spoon on the edge of each cup after stirring it. As far as he's concerned, the tea isn't made properly unless he does that. Sounds like a ritual to me.
What makes this Chamomile Green Tea so awesome?
This Chamomile Green Tea is a very simple blend of tea and herbs that's grassy, earthy, and just a little bit sweet with the addition of honey. Of course, you can leave that out if you prefer, but I find it helps to balance the bitterness of the green tea. I love drinking this hot at the moment as it's the dead of winter, but as spring arrives, I think it will also be lovely poured over ice.
Chamomile is known to help with sleep, but when combined with green tea which has more of a stimulating effect, it keeps you alert and focused but also very relaxed. I think it makes a nice afternoon break for when you have a bit more work to get through so need some energy, but maybe you've also been stressed out earlier and need to let some of that go. Regardless of when you drink it, it's beautiful and soothing.
Magical Properties of Chamomile
In the culinary world, chamomile is known for its calming properties, and it can bring that to your spellwork as well. In healing magic, it can be used to aid digestion, soothe stomach problems, calm stress and ease headaches. It's metaphysical properties include prosperity, peace, harmony, and happiness. Use it to invoke the energy of the sun. (Source: The Modern Guide to Witchcraft by Skye Alexander)

Ingredients
Here's everything you'll need to make this drink. The full details are in the recipe card below.
- Green tea - loose or in a tea bag
- Dried chamomile - loose or in a tea bag
- Honey
- Water
You'll also need a kettle or a pot to heat water in. You'll also need something to strain out your tea leaves. Whether that's a reusable teabag, and mesh tea strainer, or a teapot like mine with a mesh insert. Alternatively, you could steep your herbs in a measuring jug and use a fine mesh sieve to strain out the herbs.
Tips for making Chamomile Green Tea
There's nothing particularly complicated about making tea. The higher quality your ingredients, the more refined your tea will be, but don't stress yourself out about it. I do like to use water that's just off the boil to extract the most flavor. Because this is an herbal infusion, I like to let it steep for 3-5 minutes.
I used a green tea bag and loose chamomile because that's what I had on hand. Use whatever combination works for you. It's all about what you have access to.
I also added honey because I have a sweet tooth. You want to add this while the tea is still very hot to help the honey dissolve more easily. Tea is very personal, so experiment with how long you like to steep it for and how much honey or other sweetener you want to add.
This can be drunk hot or iced depending in your preference.
I hope you enjoy your ritual of making this Chamomile Green Tea. May it bring you peace and prosperity.
