    Cherry Berry Cocktail

    Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

This Cherry Berry Cocktail features maraschino liqueur and berry soda. Serve it in cute old-fashioned glass to make it more fun. A little whipped cream never hurt anything, either.

It seems my mind is still lingering in dinner party day dreams. Lovely photos of lovely tables with pretty dishes and pretty drinks. An Anthropologie wonderland where everyone's hair is perfect, grill marks are always straight, fireflies arrive on cue, and glasses are never empty. Do you think Ina Garten ever gets mosquito bites?

Tablescapes have never been my forte. I have the dishes I have, and you eat off of them or you don't. Occasionally, though, I get the urge to get just a little bit fancy.

I created this cherry berry dessert cocktail using some pretty little glasses I found at a thrift store. I made use of the maraschino cherry liqueur we picked up back in our World Cup international booze frenzy and paired it with a mixed berry Italian soda on sale at my grocery store.

I was inspired by a vintage cocktail called an Angel's Tit to add whipped cream and a cherry which has a slightly naughty connotation. Really, though, I'm in it for the whipped cream. The drink is definitely sweet. A small glass is all you'll need. It's also got a hint of sourness from the cherry liqueur. Serve it after dinner while you're feeling tipsy but not sloppy. You'll feel very Scott and Zelda.

It occurs to me this combination would also make an outstanding ice cream float. Get pretty. Get happy.
