    Easy Chocolate Fudge with text

With Samhain quickly approaching, I thought this would be the perfect time to make something from my childhood that I remember fondly. This Easy Chocolate Fudge is made from a family recipe collected in a binder put together by my grandmother. I always remember my mom making mountains of this fudge as well as peanut butter fudge and about a million cookies every year at Christmas. Turns out before she started making the fudge, it was my grandma's job.

So now I'm amongst the third generation of women in my family keeping these recipes alive. While it's not exactly ancient, it still connects me to my past in a very real way. That's part of the beauty of kitchen witchcraft. There are so many ways you can use it to connect to spirit.

What makes this fudge so awesome?

Look, I really don't have the words to express how awesome this chocolate fudge is. This stuff is euphoric. It's addictive. It's absolutely heavenly. I cannot be left in the same room as this stuff. I won't be able to stop myself from going back for one more piece. This is obviously sweet, and very chocolatey, with a smooth texture. I wish I was a poet so I could properly convey the pure joy of eating this fudge. I'm in love.

Magickal Properties of Easy Chocolate Fudge

To me, this fudge is a perfect mood boosting spell. I think it's impossible to eat this and not feel happy. It's got endorphin-boosting chocolate and energy-boosting sugar as the main ingredients, so you're gonna get a quick hit of awesomeness.

This recipe also needs to be stirred constantly, so it's ideal for quiet contemplation and working your energy into the ingredients. Stir clockwise for attraction and counterclockwise to repel.

To invoke the energy of specific ingredients, here's a bit more info for you.

    • Sugar - Attraction, love
    • Milk - fertility, abundance, motherhood
    • Chocolate - love, romance, grounding, prosperity
    • Butter - soothes relationships, increases tenacity, makes change easier, increases spirituality, adds smoothing quality to spells, peace, spirituality, Faerie

How to make Easy Chocolate Fudge

My mom's most critical instruction on this recipe is to never ever ever stop stirring. So the crucial first stop is to measure out all of your ingredients before you get started and have everything ready to go. You can add the sugar, marshmallows, and evaporated milk to a medium saucepan (make sure you give yourself ample space to stir and for the mixture to bubble). Then add the chocolate, butter, and vanilla to a separate bowl and set aside for later. Also, spray your 8x8 baking pan with some non-stick spray. Okay, ready for heat?

You can cook this over medium high heat, stirring all the while until it starts to boil. Then set a timer for eight minutes, cut the heat back a little bit (you want it to keep boiling, but you don't want it to boil over or scorch), and just keep stirring. When the timer is up, quickly add the chocolate/butter/vanilla and , you guessed it, keep stirring. Once the chocolate and butter are melted and combined, pour your mixture into the baking pan to set. Let it cool on the counter, then stash it in the fridge for a few hours to set completely.

    FAQ

What type of chocolate should I use for this fudge?

My mom was very practical and used semi-sweet chocolate chips, nothing fancy. It's the major flavor in the recipe, so it should be a chocolate you enjoy eating.

    • Category: Sweets
    • Method: Boiled
    • Cuisine: American
    • Diet: Vegetarian

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 10 large marshmallows
    • 5.3 ounces evaporated milk (small can)
    • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
    • ½ cup (4 ounces) butter
    • 1 tsp vanilla

    Instructions

    1. It's important to have everything ready once you turn on your heat, so measure out your chocolate, butter, and vanilla in a bowl and set aside. Spray an 8x8 baking pan with non-stick spray.
    2. Add sugar, marshmallows, and evaporated milk to a large saucepan. Turn the heat under the pan to medium high and start stirring. Keep stirring until the mixture starts to boil.
    3. Once you reach a boil, continue to cook and stir for 8 minutes. Whatever you do, don't stop stirring. When 8 minutes is up, remove the pot from the heat, but don't stop stirring.
    4. Carefully but quickly add the chocolate, butter, and vanilla to the boiling sugar mixture. Keep stirring until everything is melted and blended.
    5. Pour the mixture immediately into the waiting baking pan and refrigerate for several hours or overnight to set.
    6. Cut into small pieces and try really hard not to eat every last bit.

Hi there! When you say “large” marshmallows, do you mean the standard size, or the jumbo? Thanks!

Hi, Amber. When I originally wrote this post, they weren't making those marshmallows the size of your fist. So yea, standard size marshmallows, not the mini ones. Hope the fudge turns out great.
