    Classic Cosmopolitan with text

When we talk about glamour magick, there's lots of discussion about clothes and makeup and hair and beauty. But glamour magick is about how your appearance makes you feel, then energy you give off because of how you look. Anybody who's even taken an acting lesson knows it can go way beyond costumes and makeup.

If you want to fully take on a new energy, this will extend into the body as well. How does that version of you stand? Move? Not just what do they wear, but what do they eat? How do they talk? What do they order at the bar? Does someone holding a bottle of beer give off a different energy from someone holding a martini glass? Everything about you contributes to the way your energy could be perceived.

    Classic Cosmopolitan

What makes a Classic Cosmopolitan so awesome?

To me, nothing says carefree sophistication quite like a Classic Cosmopolitan. I was never a Sex and the City person, but I did come of an age in an era where they made fruity martinis seem extremely cool. Are they still cool? I don't know and I don't care. I love holding a martini glass and drinking something that actually tastes good and looks beautiful.

A Cosmopolitan is flavored with cranberry and citrus, so it's got sweetness and a good hit of tartness to balance out the sting of vodka. If you want to get fancy, you can garnish it with a twist of orange peel. When I'm at home, I just like to shake the ingredients together with ice and get to sipping. Do what makes you feel awesome.

    Magical Properties of Oranges

Oranges are bright and sunny, and their scent is an instant mood lifter. They've been associated with both the sun and the moon, as well as the planet Venus. They also carry the energy of both fire and air. You can use oranges in spells for love and friendship, joy and happiness, success and prosperity, and so much more.

    Ingredients

Here's everything you'll need to make this cocktail. The full ingredients are in the recipe card below.

    • Vodka - This is the time to use the good stuff if you have it.
    • Cranberry juice - You could certainly change this up with different blends of cranberry juice if you like.
    • Triple Sec - Or your favorite orange liqueur
    • Lime juice - Bottled is fine.
    • Ice - This is just to shake the cocktail, so whatever is in your freezer is fine.

Tips for making a Classic Cosmopolitan

I don't have the patience for fancy mixology. All you have to do here is add all your ingredients to a cocktail shaker or a jar with plenty of ice. You do want to shake it with the ice for a good 30 seconds or more so that your cocktail is thoroughly chilled. Then just strain it into a beautiful glass that makes you feel awesome.

If you did want to make this a tad fancier, you could use a vegetable peeler to remove some of the orange part of the orange peel. The white part is bitter, so try to get just the orange part as much as possible. Then squeeze and bend the orange peel a bit to release some of the oil, and wipe this around the rim of the glass before dropping it into the glass.

Can I make these more than one at a time?

Absolutely. Multiply the recipe by as much as you like and combine all the ingredients. Put it in the fridge to get a good chill on it, or shake each pre-mixed drink with ice before serving.
