As a witch, I know sometimes you just have to make things work. If you want something that doesn't exist yet or isn't available, you just have to create it yourself. We can choose to see this as inconvenient or empowering. Sometimes it's both at once. But the Universe always offers us options to solve our problems, and I'm no longer interested in "complain about it" as one of my options. I'm all for making it happen.

So often times, that means I have to find work arounds in the kitchen when I crave things that just don't exist in Scotland. I either have to spend extra to import ingredients or find another way of getting close enough to what I want. Oddly enough, fruit juice is one of those things I've had to make happen. The choices are limited, and since my dad worked for Welch's my entire childhood, my expectations are high.

What makes Cran-Orange-Apple Juice so awesome?

So yes, in some parts of the world, you could just buy this at a store, but in other places, you'll need to create your own juice blend. This combination of flavors is one of my favorites. It's the perfect blend of tart and sweet with a gorgeous color. You don't need machines and raw fruit, just bring together different juices in a pitcher or bottle to get the distinct flavor you're looking for.

Obviously, this is great to just drink with your breakfast for quick energy and a burst of vitamins. But you could also add sparkling water, club soda, or even ginger ale to make it bubbly. You could also mix up this blend as part of a mimosa bar. This juice would also be delicious mixed with vodka or gin for a quick and easy cocktail option. If you're throwing a party and some people are drinking alcohol and some aren't, Cran-Orange-Apple Juice is a great mix and match offering as a base for eveyrone.

    Magical Properties of Apples

Thanks to Disney, apples are commonly associated with witches, but they've been a special part of the craft well before Snow White. Apples are a symbol of protection, abundance, love, and creative energy. Tied to goddesses including Freya, Aphrodite, and Pomona, they have strong feminine energy. And they contain a protective pentagram at their core.

    Apple correspondences include:

    • Magical properties: fertility, lust, marriage, immortality, fidelity, harvest, initiation, wisdom
    • Planets - Sun, Venus
    • Element - water
    • Zodiac - Taurus
    • Deities - Aphrodite, Apollo, Bel, Ceridwen, Demeter, Diana, Eve, Flora, Godiba, Herakles, Hesperides, Iduna, Inanna, Kore, Lugh, Meliae, Morgana, Nehallenia, Olwen, Persephone, Pomona, Titaea, Venus, Zeus

    Tips for making Cran-Orange-Apple Juice

Okay, this is hardly a recipe. All we're doing is buying three different kinds of juice and pouring it into the same container. So let me guide you on your shopping a little bit.

You want to be sure you get 100% apple and orange juice. Concentrate is fine, but you don't want "juice drink" which contains a lot of extra sugar. You want just the juice.

I don't know if pure cranberry juice is even sold, but it would taste awful. You do want plain cranberry juice here, but just check and see if it's sweetened with something artificial. If you like that, great. If you think artificial sweeteners taste like garbage, just check the label.

Then the only thing to do is make sure you have a vessel big enough to mix equal parts of each of your three juices. This is best served cold, and frozen cranberries make a great substitute for ice which will water down your drink. Just an option, especially awesome for parties.
