A French Martini is a classic cocktail with a fruity flavor and a distinctly feminine charm. With flavors of raspberrry and pineapple, this elegant drink is as potent as it is sweet.
Some people take cocktails and spirits very seriously. They think it all needs to be dark and bitter and funky. There's a strong masculine energy around it all. The craft cocktail scene is very exclusive and a bit elitist. Whatever happened to having a drink just for fun?
Joy and pleasure are definitely the main goals here. We don't do things because it makes us superior or sophisticated. We do things because they make us feel good. That includes our cocktail order, kids. If you like a drink that's complex and sophisticated, if it truly makes you happy, drink it to your heart's content. If you like drinking things that are sweet and fruity, you should totally do that, too. One is not better than the other.
What makes a French Martini so awesome?
There's something about a French Martini that just feels feminine to me. It's made with Chambord, a raspberry liqueur, some neutral vodka, and pineapple juice. It's fruity and sweet and light and sippable. Plus that color is just gorgeous, and I'm not even that into pink. But don't let all that beauty fool you. This is a potent concotion.
Making cocktails at home can be lots of fun, and it's so much cheaper than going to the bar. You could easily mix up a pitcher of these if you're having a party, or make one or two at a time for a date night at home. Garnish with frozen raspberries if you have them to keep your drink cold without watering it down.
Magical Properties of Raspberries
Raspberries carry strong fertility energy, with their many seeds. They're also tied to Venus, so they can be used in love spells as well. And with their thorny, tangled branches, they're also good for protection. One historic spell suggests you can carry a bit of raspberry root to protect against snakebites. Tips for making a French Martini
What is there to say about making a cocktail this simple. Add all your ingredients into a cocktail shaker or a jar with ice, and give them a good shake. To get your drink properly chilled, you'll want to shake it for a good 30 seconds or more. If you're using a shaker, you'll feel it begin to get cold.
If you wanted to garnish this, you could drop some fresh or frozen raspberries or even a chunk of pineapple into the glass. Or dig out your favorite cocktail picks and make a little fruity kabob. Or just skip to drinking.
This is quite a strong cocktail. It's equal parts vodka to pineapple juice, plus the Chambord, which isn't strong. The exact alcohol levels will depend on the type of vodka you're using, but do be aware that this is quite potent despite its fruity flavor.
Drink what makes you happy, kids. If that's a French Martini, then that's super awesome.
