The full moon is a deeply magical moment, so it's the perfect time for divination. This full moon tarot spread will help you celebrate your wins, analyse your learnings, and let go of what no longer serves you.
Outside of the kitchen, moon magic and tarot are two of my favorite witchcraft practices. Through Sagittarian Tarot, I offer tarot guidance to people seeking clarity and connection, and with the Moon Magic Membership, I guide people through each moon cycle to help them stay focused in their manifestations.
Combining journaling and divination is a powerful way for you to tap into your intuition while also receiving guidance from the Universe. Your tarot cards, oracle cards, or runes can deepen your own understanding and help you consider your situation from a new point of view.
Full Moon Energy
The full moon is a big deal, even if you're not into witchcraft. When the moon is fully illuminated and bringing all her beauty, she's impossible to ignore. But that also means full moon energy can be a bit hard to handle sometimes.
To me, the full moon simply heightens whatever energy is already around you. It just turns the volume up to eleven. So if you're stressed, you're gonna be more stressed. If you're happy, you'll probably feel even more happy. Different moons have a slightly different flavor throughout the year depending in the season and the astrological sign, but they all carry this intensity.
Many witches like to do releasing rituals at the full moon, but for me, the day of the full moon is all about celebration. There's plenty of time for releasing over the next two weeks as the moon wanes. If the moon is a spotlight, I want to shine it on what's working well in my life. But maybe that's because I'm a Sagittarius and an eternal optimist.
Questions for the cards
A tarot reading is usually only as good as the questions you ask. From my experience, tarot is not the best tool for asking binary or yes/no questions. They certainly can be read that way, but with 78 possibilities, it seems like a bit of a waste when you could just ask your pendulum or even flip a coin.
I also don't use the cards to make predictions, so instead of asking when or who, I like to ask how, why, or what. This full moon spread actually takes you through the whole waning half of the moon cycle, touching on energies that you might experience over the two weeks before the next new moon.
Use all of these questions in a single spread or select the ones that feel most aligned to you. Lay out your cards in a straight line or as you see fit.
Full Moon Tarot Spread
- What can I celebrate under this full moon?
- Where can I focus my gratitude?
- What is ready to be released?
- What lessons can I look for from this cycle so far?
- How can I create space for rest?
- What's the next right step on my manifestation path?
Of course, these questions are generic for any full moon. If you're looking for guidance that aligns with a full moon in a specific sign, be sure to check out my Moon Magic Journal Prompts with guidance for the most recent new and full moon each month.
