What to Eat in Gemini Season

Wondering what to eat in Gemini season? I've got a list of 100 awesome recipes to see you through this season of duality and intellectual exploration. Keep your mind fuelled with something delicious.

What to Eat in Gemini Season with Chickpea & Spinach Curry

Gemini season is right on the cusp of summer, with fresh fruits and vegetables popping up all over the place. Gemini energy is all about duality, able to hold opposing views and see all sides of things. Ruled by air and Mercury, Gemini can aid communication and intellect. But it can also be a bit overwhelming swinging back and forth from one extreme to another. Let's see what foods will help us bring in the energy of the season.

    Gemini Season Foods

Gemini-specific foods include almonds, dill, and sweet potatoes. I'm not sure I'd necessarily put those flavors together, but on their own, each of them is delicious. Here are a few awesome recipes to get you started.

Almonds can be used in beauty and glamour spells, and they also bring prosperity and universal love. I love to bake with them or drink them in the form of amaretto.

    • Almond Pastry Puff
    • Nutty Nutella Boozy Milkshake
    • Almond Flour Cookies

Frilly dill is known to bring good fortune, tranquility, and protection, to name just a few. I love the fresh, verdant aroma of this pretty herb.

    • Dill Potato Salad
    • Dill & Cheddar Popovers
    • Grilled Potato Foil Packets with Lemon Dill Creme Fraiche

I absolutely love sweet potatoes. They bring an energy of friendship, harmony, and nurturing. I can't help but feel happy when I eat them.

    • Cajun Sweet Potatoes
    • Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Spiced Maple Butter
    • Sweet Potato Gratin
    • Baked Sweet Potato Brulee
    • Sweet Potato Mac & Cheese
    • Vegetarian Sweet Potato Shepherd's Pie
Lavender Cake on a wooden board

    Mercury Foods

Mercury is the planet of communication. We know how it can mess with our messages when it goes retrograde, so let's give it some healthy respect and enhance our ability to connect with others with some foods that honor the closest planet to the sun.

Lavender fills us with relaxation and inner peace. Get totally zen with a slice of Lavender Cake.

Carrots are a lusty root vegetable that can bring fertility, clarity, and grounding. Here are a couple of ways to enjoy them.

    • Maple Glazed Carrots
    • Carrot Ginger Orange Mimosas

Chickpeas make one of my favorite foods, hummus. They also bring virility and help you beat the competition. Sure.

    • Chickpea & Spinach Curry
    • Easy Peanut Butter Hummus
    • Hummus & Egg Toast with Sun-Dried Tomatoes & Chives

Pomegranates are seriously witchy, giving us insight into the underworld. They also happen to be a bit elementally promiscuous and seem to show up on every list. Fine by me because I pretty much only have them in cocktails.

    • Pomegranate Margarita
    • Pomegranate Martini
    • Ginger Pomegranate Cocktail

I love black beans, probably because they always show up with Southwest flavors. They also bring the energy of creativity, communication, and wisdom. Give me more.

    • Black Bean & Chorizo Soup
    • Cheesy Black Bean Bacon Dip
    • Black Bean Soup made with dried beans
Whipped Feta on Toast with tomatoes and basil

    Air Foods

Once again, air is the element of communication and the intellect. When we want to speak clearly and be understood, we call on this element. But given that air is essentially invisible, it can be difficult to represent. Here are a few air foods to help us connect to our logical side.

Pine nuts can help us stay resilient and move on from difficult times. Try sprinkling some on top of this Gorgonzola Focaccia Bread.

Figs bring abundance, fertility, and luck. I like to enjoy them in the form of jam with gooey cheese and crunchy bread.

    • Fig Jam Crispy Prosciutto & Brie Grilled Cheese
    • Fig Jam & Smoked Gouda Grilled Cheese

Oregano is an herb known for freedom, creativity, and protection. It's ubiquitous in Italian food. Here are a couple of my favorite ways to feature it.

    • Whipped Ricotta
    • Za'atar Potato Salad

Bananas can bring resilience through change. That makes sense. Think about how what seems to be a nearly rotten banana actually makes really great banana bread. There's always a second act.

    • Chocolate Banana Muffins
    • Strawberry Banana Smoothie
    • Banana Macadamia Nut Muffins

Cherries are all about love, fertility, and new beginnings. This fruit sacred to Venus is a total romantic.

    • Brie Grilled Cheese with Ham & Cherry Jam
    • Pimm's & Cherry Lemonade
    • Cherry Berry Cocktail
    • Cherry Orange Sangria

Coffee is an air correspondence that I only enjoy in the form of Kahlua, though I know most people love it. It's no surprise that this ingredient brings a boost of energy along with protection and grounding.

    • White Russian Milkshake
    • Mudslide Milkshake
    • Kahlua Brownies
    • Chocolate Kahlua Bread Pudding
    • Salted Caramel White Russian

Hazelnuts are known to bring wisdom, luck, and fertility. I think they're best enjoyed in the form of nutella.

    • Nutella Cheesecake Parfaits
    • Nutella Fairy Toast
    • Pumpkin & Hazelnut Crostini
    • Nutella No-Bake Cookies

Maple makes everything sweeter in a totally interesting way. Metaphysically, it also brings love, prosperity, and longevity.

    • Spice Cupcakes with Maple Frosting
    • Croissant French Toast with Maple Bacon Whipped Cream

    • Easy Cheesy Stuffed Peppers
    • Lemon Rice

In addition to what I've listed here, you might also enjoy rhubarb, asparagus, and broccoli at this time of year, just to get you started.

Blueberries should be showing up this time of year. What better way to enjoy them than in a classic Homemade Bluberry Muffin.

    • Spinach & Ricotta Stuffed Shells
