Herb Biscuits & Sausage Gravy is one of my very favorite things to have for breakfast. Full of flavor and deeply satisfying, it's down home goodness that will make your day extra awesome.

Herb Biscuits & Sausage Gravy with text

Part of the way that I've challenged myself as an Aries rising and Sagittarius sun is to put myself into unfamiliar places again and again. I thought coming to the UK would be so much easier than living in a country where I didn't speak the language. But just because two cultures share a common language doesn't mean they always understand each other.

And while it has been easier to be able to read signs and ask people questions, there have been a lot of unexpected differences to contend with. I have seen people's prejudices come out in ways I didn't expect, and I also learned about my own biases and uninformed expectations. But on a lighter note, I've learned that British people don't really understand American food. I've made it my mission to teach them.

What makes Herb Biscuits & Sausage Gravy so awesome?

In the UK, neither biscuits nor gravy will bring up an image of this unbelievably delicious dish, but that doesn't change the fact that this is good stuff. These biscuits are made with green onions and chopped parsley for a hit of extra savoury flavor. They're beautifully crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. They're the perfect vehicle for what comes next.

This creamy sausage gravy is flavorful and smooth. Some butter is added to the fat from the sausage to make sure you have plenty of gravy to go around, and it's thickened with cream to make it extra rich. The sausage in the UK is not flavored quite as assertively as American sausage, so I add some extra spices, but you might want to taste yours first before deciding if you need it. Obviously, use your favorite sausage here as it's the star of the show.

    Magical Properties of Parsley

Parsley is much more than just a garnish. It's got a lovely flavor all its own that brightens up a hevy dish like this. But it also brings its own metaphysical energy to the table. This vibrant green herb is actually tied to the sabbat of Samhain, representing the underworld, ancestral knowledge, and the dead. It's ruled by Mercury and the element of air and sacred to Aphrodite, Archemorus, Persephone, Venus, and all deities of death. Honor your departed ancestors the next time you sprinkle this herb over your food. (Source: The Hearth Witch's Compendium by Anna Franklin)
