    Mabon Tarot Spread

The Autumn Equinox is a beautiful time to check in with your higher self and seek guidance for gratitude and abundance. Use this Mabon Tarot Spread to help you understand how to harvest what you've been working for all year.

Mabon Tarot Spread - A six-card spread for gratitude and abundance

Mabon is such a beautiful time of year. It reminds us of the rewards that come from hard work. As the sun begins to fade, we transition into a new season, and our energy begins to turn inward. Filled with gathering and gratitude it's one of my favorite sabbats. It's a great time to pause and reflect on what you've harvested, and Tarot is an excellent way to help you see beyond the mundane and truly understand the gifts you've received.

    What is Mabon?

Mabon is the second harvest festival, and it falls on the Autumn Equinox which also corresponds with the start of Libra season. It is a day of perfect balance between dark and light. From the next 6 months, the nights will be longer than the days. We begin to shift from growing to gathering.

Mabon is also known as the witch's thanksgiving. It is commonly accompanied by a feast made from all the things we've harvested. But as modern witches, we know that it's not just crops that we've cultivated throughout the year. It's a time to pause and reflect on what your energy and hard work has grown, and to give thanks for what works. Gratitude is a very high frequency energy, so this is a day to feel good about what you've accomplished. It's a day to celebrate with your coven and your community.

A Mabon Tarot Spread for Gratitude and Abundance

Mabon is also an excellent time for reflection, and Tarot is my favorite tool to help you go deeper into your own subconscious and connect with your higher self. This is the ideal time to reflect on where your work has gotten you. There is definitely an opportunity to explore what didn't work and what can be left behind in the old season. But mostly, it's a chance to notice how the consistent energy you've been expending all year has begun to bear fruit.

Use this spread as part of your Mabon ritual to help you celebrate your success and give thanks for the blessings in your life.

    Mabon Tarot Spread

    1. What energy is the Universe ready for me to harvest? - Use this question to help you reflect on what the Universe is offering up for you right now.
    2. How is my hard work showing up in my life right now? - This will show you the results of what you've done so far.
    3. What needs to be left behind in the previous season? - Use this question to help you think about what needs to be released.
    4. What hidden blessings can I be grateful for? - This will show you the gifts you haven't noticed.
    5. How can I continue to create abundance? - Use this to help you start focusing on the work that still needs to be done.
    6. What's waiting for me in the new season? - This card will help you direct your energy toward the next right steps in your life.

    How to Interpret Your Reading

You can lay out your cards in any shape you like. I usually do two simple lines of three cards. I prefer to pull one card for each question and reflect fully on that single card before moving onto the next one. Then I like to look at all the cards together at the end to see the threads that run between them. Use all the cards to create the story your higher self is trying to reveal.

Tarot is highly personal to each individual, so do what feels best for you. I like to remind my students that Tarot is not here to tell you what will happen or what to do. Rather, the cards help you to understand what your intuition already knows. Trust yourself and you can't get it wrong.

How to Celebrate Mabon - go apple picking; go for a walk and notice the changing leaves; create a gratitude list; collect leaves and acorns for your altar; bake a fruit pie or cake

    More Ways to Celebrate Mabon

Of course, a Tarot reading might be just one part of your Mabon celebration. There are lots of ways to honor this sabbat. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

    • Honor the sun - Find out what time the sun rises and sets (it will be around the same time am and pm) and make sure you're there to witness and meditation with each.
    • Collect natural items for a Mabon altar - A walk in nature is always a beautiful way to enjoy a sabbat. Be mindful of the changes in the natural world and pick up leaves, sticks, acorns, or other fallen objects that make you smile, then arrange them on your altar.
    • Cook a seasonal meal - As a harvest festival, it would be a shame not to eat something delicious. It doesn't have to be elaborate. Let yourself celebrate the bounty of the earth in this season.
