This Ginger & Lime Mocktail is perfect for a winter gathering. Fiery and tart, it's delicious flavors are awesome on their own and also make a great base for an alcoholic beverage for anyone who wants one.

Ginger & Lime Mocktail with text

Did anyone else grow up with punch bowls full of foamy green sherbet and lemon lime soda? I used to love dipping a ladle into that big bowl of sweet and fizzy weirdness. Thinking back it seems kind of gross, but I bet it would still be weirdly delicious.

Whatever happened to the punch bowl? Now everyone just drinks fancy wine or craft beer. But there's something so delightfully communal about dipping into a giant bowlful of a tasty beverage. I think I might ask Santa to bring me a punch bowl for Christmas. For now, though, it will have to be mocktails by the glass or in a pitcher. There are so many ways to make a party.

What makes this Ginger & Lime Mocktail so awesome?

I love this Ginger & Lime Mocktail because it's got a refreshing balance of sweet, tart, and fiery. Ginger beer is punchy with an almost aggressive gingery flavor, while lime is sweeter than lemon but with its own tantalizing flavor notes. When they come together, you get something that's somehow simple and sophisticated. It's super refreshing which makes it a great compliment to rich winter foods.

Lots of people are cutting back or giving up alcohol all together these days, so I always want to have something special for them. Serving a lovely mocktail like this one makes them feel like part of the party. But it can also do double duty at a party since this would also be great with a shot of gin or spiced rum. Giving people options puts them in control without having to make a big deal out of who's drinking alcohol and who's not. Everyone's happy.

    Magical Properties of Ginger

Ginger is a fiery ingredient that can be used to add urgency to your spells. It's also sensual and earthy, so it shows up in love and lust workings as well. Ruled by Mars, Aries, and the element of fire, you can call on ginger whenever you need a boost of energy or passion. (Source: The Hearth Witch's Compendium by Anna Franklin)
