Orange & Amaretto Cider with text

Picture this. You've just come home from a day out with friends. Maybe you've been to a football game or at the pumpkin patch or corn maze. Your nose is cold, but you've got a big smile on your face because the crisp autumn air is so refreshing. You want to keep that revitalizing energy going, so you gather together a few friends, maybe around your backyard firepit or just in the coziness of your own kitchen. What are you drinking?

It's autumn, but you're so over the pumpkin beer, so you go for a pint of cider. But you want to make it extra awesome. You want to invoke the sun as we tip into the dark half of the year. This drink, my friends. This is what you need.

What makes this drink so awesome?

This Orange and Amaretto Cider brings a bit of brightness to your everyday pint. It's pretty simple, so it's great for just one drink or for a crowd. All we're doing is adding an ounce of orange juice and an ounce of amaretto to a pint glass, then topping it up with chilled hard cider. You can enhance it with a splash of something else from the bar. I went with blood orange gin this time because that's what I had. Meade or a cinnamon spirit would also be nice.

To add an extra bit of fire energy, you can garnish this drink with a cinnamon stick. The scent of cinnamon as you drink will serve to enhance the autumn vibes.

Magickal properties of Orange & Amaretto Cider

To add a bit of magick to this recipe, you could simply focus on the intention you want to create, maybe autumn coziness as you pour. Stir your drink in a clockwise direction to attract more positive energy. If you'd like to call on the energy of each ingredient, here's a bit more:

    • Almond - While not every amaretto is made with almond, I always associate it with this particular nut, so that's good enough for me. Almonds are associated with vitality, luck and universal love. They're also known as an energy booster.
    • Apples - Since apples are harvested in the autumn, they'll bring those vibes all on their own. Apples are associated with abundance, love, and longevity, amongst other things.
    • Cinnamon - If you do decide to add that cinnamon stick, call on it as a blessing for you and whoever you're sharing your drink with. Cinnamon is associated with spirituality, so allow it to deepen your gratitude for your spiritual connections.
    • Oranges - Sunny oranges are associated with success, prosperity, and friendship. The smell of an orange just always makes me happy. That should be a strong clue to its power.

I'd say this drink definitely has the power to bring good vibes to all who taste it.

    FAQ

What kind of cider should I use?

Just to be clear, I'm talking about alcoholic cider here, not unfiltered apple juice. Use your favorite brand, but since we're adding our own flavors to it, it should be a plain apple cider. I'd also recommend a cider more on the dry side since we're adding sweet elements.

Autumn energy is everyone's favorite for a reason. It's a time of transition and turning inward. Reflect and connect while sharing an Orange & Amaretto Cider with friends. It's gonna be awesome.
