Vanilla Hot Chocolate for One is a sweet way to comfort yourself on a cold day. Self-care comes in many forms, and sometimes that's a mug of real hot chocolate made from scratch, just the way you like it. And you don't even have to share.
Caring for others is powerful magic. As we help heal and support one another, we raise the collective vibration. As parents, teachers, friends, and just humans who live in a community, we are all connected, and our actions and choices affect others. The interconnection of all things is one of the most amazing forces in the Universe. And yet...
It's also crucial to tend to your own needs. Take moments that are just for yourself. You don't need to earn it. You are worthy of self-care simply because you exist. We all need to take time to recharge our own energy so that we can then give again to others. These quiet moments should be cherished and protected. Never feel guilty for taking time for yourself to do something that makes you feel good.
What makes Vanilla Hot Chocolate so awesome?
This Vanilla Hot Chocolate is the perfect way to give yourself a moment of self-care. You could, of course, get out a bigger pot, double or even quadruple this recipe and make enough for everyone, but I urge you to make this a little self-care ritual. You can even save yourself the trouble of doing the dishes by making this right in your mug in the microwave.
If you bake at all, you're going to have everything you need already on hand. I love this vanilla version because it is sensual and earthy, but you can customize this even further to suit your mood. Fortify it with a splash of liqueur like peppermint schnapps, Frangelico, or Bailey's. Or add a sprinkle of cinnamon on the top for a bit of fiery comfort.
I know sometimes when I'm making something just for myself, I eat it straight out of the pot, but here, I want you to show yourself the same love you'd show an honored guest. Add marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, whatever you've got to make it special. And then sit down and drink it uninterrupted. Really let yourself enjoy it. That's magic.
Magical properties of vanilla
Being an aphrodesiac, vanilla is most commonly associated with passion and seduction, but I always think of it as a very warm and comforting scent and flavor, probably because I use it so much in baking. Vanilla is also believed to invoke peace and luck. I think you could definitely extend the loving vibes of vanilla to yourself.
Vanilla corresponds with feminine or receptive energy, the element of water, and the planet Venus. I think this would be powerful in helping a woman attract a lover. (Source: Elune Blue)

Tips for making Vanilla Hot Chocolate
This is designed to be super simple. The most important thing is making sure everything is properly mixed. I like to add the liquid slowly to create a thin paste to work out any lumps before adding the rest of the milk. If you have a tiny whisk, even better.
You can make this on the stove or in the microwave. You want the milk to get hot, but you don't need it to boil or you risk scorching. My favorite way to do it is to mix everything in a measuring jug to give myself plenty of space for stirring. Then I heat it up in that before pouring it into my favorite mug.
FAQ
You want to use the unsweetened cocoa powder that you would bake with. Use whatever kind is in your pantry. Don't use hot chocolate mix for this. That usually has sugar and sometimes powdered milk already added. We're adding all of those things ourselves.
Taking care of yourself makes the world a better place. Make it a ritual with a mug of Vanilla Hot Chocolate for One. It's gonna be awesome.
