    Vodka Lime Slush

    Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

This Vodka Lime Slush transforms a standard bar drink into a summer treat. Embrace the sun energy of lime with this frozen drink that will keep your summer party cool.

    Vodka Lime Slush with text

As a modern 21st century witch, I have a complicated relationship with the summer sun. I know it's a necessary part of the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. I know it imbues the Earth with a blast of energy before fading away in the winter, giving us crops that sustain us through the dark days. I get why it's good, but I also hate being too hot.

Thankfully I'm not in the same position as my ancient ancestors who didn't have things like electricity or ice. I can put some juice and some ice, and maybe even some booze in a blender and make the summer sun feel much less invasive. That would definitely seem like magic to the ancestors.

What makes this Vodka Lime Slush so awesome?

Vodka and lime is a pretty standard mixed drink order at bars here in the UK. But it's kinda boring. That is until you dump it in a blender with extra ice. Then it's a tangy, boozy slush that you can sip on a hot day while fanning yourself and praying for a break in the weather.

You can make this one at a time in a small smoothie-type blender or get out the big boy, load it with tons of booze, ice, and lime juice and make it a party. The blender does all the work, and there's just something about ice being crushed in a blender that makes me think of a summer celebration. So get your friends 'round the grill in the backyard and get them tipsy on a Vodka Lime Slush.

    Magical Properties of Vodka

With vodka's clear color and clean neutral flavor, it's an ideal spirit for use in both cocktails and tinctures. It can be used in spells for clarity, purification, and cleansing. (Source: WitchCraft Cocktails by Julia Halina Hadas)

Limes also carry purifying qualities and are also used in spells for protection, prosperity, healing, and relaxation. Tied to the Sun and Venus, you could give this drink the intention of clearing your mind of worry so you can focus on enjoying a warm summer evening.

    Ingredients

Here's everything you'll need to make this drink. The full details are in the recipe card below.

    • Ice - It's easiest to just buy a bag.
    • Lime vodka - If you can't find lime-infused vodka, you could use regular vodka and add lime cordial to the mix as well.
    • Simple syrup - This is just equal parts sugar and water heated to dissolve the sugar. If I only need a small amount, I'll just boil the kettle and stir together the hot water and sugar in a measuring jug rather than getting out a saucepan.
    • Triple Sec - Or other orange liqueur
    • Lime juice - fresh or bottled
    • Lime slices - for garnish, which is totally optional but cute

Tips for making a Vodka Lime Slush

This is your drink so you can make adjustments as you like to suit your taste. If you want it stronger or more tart, just fiddle with it until it tastes good to you.

Basically, all you have to do is pour all the ingredients into a blender, turn it on, and let the machine do all the work. There are no secrets here. It's really that easy.
